Why rent instead of buy?

There are many good reasons to rent an instrument instead of purchase one, especially for young students. Young children use fractional instruments—meaning they are not full-size and are proportionally designed to fit children of different sizes. Children outgrow fractional size instruments at a quick rate that often makes it rather impractical to purchase a very expensive instrument. Renting an instrument is a cost effective way of solving this issue because students may trade instrument in when they outgrow them.

Renting is also a good solution for someone who is not necessarily ready to make a full commitment to many years of study. Instead of buying a very expensive instrument, students may return the instrument at the end of a session if they elect not to continue study.

Beware of instruments that come with cheap price tags—especially from online distributors. In these instances, the buyer truly gets what they’ve paid for, and frequently these instruments need a tremendous amount of work done on them before they are even playable. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is!
For adults, rent-to-own options are a good way of spreading out the cost of an expensive instrument over a longer period of time.

All rental instruments come with a wooden bow (not fiberglass) and real horsehair (not synthetic hair) and a sturdy case. Violin rentals typically carry a list price between $550-$700 dollars. Quality equipment is the foundation for quality playing!

Violins ………… $25.00 per month
Violas …………. $30.00 per month
Cellos …………. $45.00 per month

*Deposit equal to one month’s rental due at the time the lease is signed. This deposit is refundable upon return of instrument in original condition.
